With regeneration needed, a decision was made to modernise the stadium with work beginning in 2000. Reopening in 2004, the stadium is still the newest at this summer’s Euros, however, it is also one of the smallest at this summer’s tournament with just 40,000 fans set to be in attendance for the four games it will host.

Leipzig Stadium Stands
As a modern stadium that is still just twenty years old, the Leipzig Stadium is a classic bowl shape design that consists of four stands.
Unlike other stadiums that have stands named after famous players or landmarks, the four stands in the Leipzig Stadium are simply known as Sectors A, B,C and D.
Sectors A and C run adjacent to the sides of the pitch, with B and D being positioned behind the goals.
For each of the four games that are being held at the Leipzig Stadium, tickets will fall into three different categories - Category 1, Category 2 and Category 3.
Category 1 tickets are the most expensive seats that are on offer for games at the Leipzig Stadium. All Category 1 tickets are located in Sectors A and C, and all seats should offer a superb view of the action. Within each sector, the Category 1 tickets are positioned in the centre of the stands, with the corners and higher rows of the upper tier being reserved for cheaper category tickets.
The Category 2 tickets within the Leipzig Stadium are also located in Sectors A and C of the stadium, but these seats will be in the upper part of the second tier and the corner sections which connect with Sectors B and D. Due to how the Leipzig Stadium is constructed, there are no seats that offer an obscured view, so your vantage point won’t be limited. However, Category 2 tickets are just a little further from the action than the more expensive Category 1 options.
Category 3 tickets are reserved for behind the goal in Sections B and D and corner sections. Despite being the cheapest on offer, the view of the game should be great, and a fantastic atmosphere should be enjoyed due to the fans of both participating national teams being in close proximity.

If I have a Category 3 ticket, will my view be restricted?
In some of the other stadiums that are hosting Euro 2024 games, you may experience a restricted view; however, if you have tickets for a Category 3 game at the Leipzig Stadium, this won’t be an issue. Wherever you sit in the ground you will have a great view of the action.
What about VIP areas?
If you fancy watching a game at this summer’s Euros in luxury at the Leipzig Stadium, there are VIP seats and facilities available.
Like most other stadiums that contain multiple tiering, the VIP section within the Leipzig Stadium is positioned between the lower and upper tiers. All VIP seats are positioned in Sectors A and C and there are a multitude of different packages available.

The first sales of tickets took place in October 2023, with further sales taking place in December 2023 and then again in March and April 2024 for fans of qualified nations.
There is a small chance that as the tournament progresses, you may be able to get your hands on some resale tickets via UEFA’s official resale portal. In order to have a chance of getting one of these resale tickets, you need to have a registered account with UEFA.
If tickets are available, you will need to be quick, as tickets are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

As a modern stadium, the Leipzig Stadium caters to all fans and for those needing special access to the stadium, there are three dedicated entrances reserved for those with accessible tickets.
The bulk of the accessible seats inside the stadium are in Sectors A and C, reserved for the lowest tier in each sector. Sector A seats are usually within blocks 16, 17, 20, 21 and 22. Seats within Sector C are within block 38.
Dedicated toilets will be on the concourse just outside the area where all wheelchair-based seats are located.
It’s also important to stress that any accessible tickets for the entirety of the tournament will be covered by Category 3 pricing.

Can I still turn up without a ticket?
If you don’t have a ticket for any one of the four scheduled matches that the Leipzig Stadium is due to host this summer, then it is advised that you don’t travel to the ground.
Instead, there will be a large gathering of fans at the official Fan Zone at Augustusplatz. Located just 4km from the stadium, every game of the tournament will be broadcast on a huge screen, and you can also take advantage of other attractions such as the Ferris Wheel or listen to live music from local bands and other performers.
In addition to providing a brilliant fan experience, the fan park will contain a multitude of different food and beverage facilities for you to enjoy.
Which games are being played at the Leipzig Stadium in Euro 2024?
There will be four games held at the Leipzig Stadium. There will be three group games, which are:
- Portugal vs Czechia - 18th June, 20:00
- Netherlands vs France - 21st June, 20:00
- Croatia vs Italy - 24th June, 20:00
There will also be one knockout tie, which is:
- Round of 16 tie - TBC - 20:00
What rules and restrictions do I need to know before entering?
As the tournament is hosted and organised by UEFA, fans need to be aware that the stadium rules may be slightly different to the regular German season. Here are some of the most important rules to be aware of.
- Bags larger than A4 size won’t be allowed into the stadium.
You can bring a small power bank, no larger than your phone. - A valid form of ID is required.
- Professional cameras and cane umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium. However, you can bring a small, fully collapsible umbrella.
- All EURO 2024 stadiums are smoke-free venues. Therefore, smoking, e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn tobacco products are not allowed.
What is travel like to and from the stadium?
If you have a match ticket, you’re entitled to a 36-hour Travel Pass at no additional cost for the entire VRS and VRR networks, valid from 06:00 on matchday until 18:00 the following day.
The easiest way to get to the Leipzig Stadium is via the tram. Located 10 minutes from Leipzig Central Station, the tram will take you directly to the stadium. Depending on where your entrance to the stadium is, different lines should be taken. Your entrance should be clear on your match ticket.
Those with entrance A tickets should get on tram lines 3, 7, 15 or 56 towards Sportforum Sud. For those with tickets to entrances B and C, tramline 54 to Sportforum Ost is what you need.
If you are planning on making a flying visit to the stadium, there is no direct line to the stadium. A tram will need to be taken to Leipzig Central Station, then another tram taken out of the station towards the stadium on one of the lines specified above. In total the journey should take an hour.
Can I park at the stadium?
There is little to no parking at the stadium. If you are travelling to the stadium via your car it is advised to use one of the many different park and ride schemes that will be in operation. Across the duration of the tournament there will be six different park and ride locations available - Leipziger Messe, Volkerschlactdenkmal, Lausen, Schonauer Ring, Plovdiver Strabe and Krakeur Strabe.
Can I purchase food at the stadium?
Those looking for a quick bite will find plenty of options available at the stadium, with all food and drink concessions opening up to three hours before kick off.
Every kind of diet is catered for, with traditional burgers and sausages being catered alongside vegetarian and vegan options.
Beer can be consumed inside the stadium but a €3 deposit will be charged for the use of a reusable cup. Soft drinks and other non-alcoholic beverages are also readily available.
Where can I eat nearby?
If eating at the ground doesn’t appeal, then there is no need to worry as there are plenty of food and drink options in close proximity to the stadium.
To get you in the mood for the game, the Arena Sportbar is within half a mile of the stadium. A dedicated sports bar, all of the build-up to the game can be soaked up. With a variety of different beers, the menu offers local dishes as well as a multitude of different burgers and other quick bites.
For those looking for something traditional, Wagners Restaurant & Weinwirtschaft offers local German cuisine and is located near the stadium. It is one of the best restaurants in the area, so if you fancy dining in style before the game, it could be worth trying.
Due to the large number of fans that will be in the city centre, it is highly worth booking a table to avoid disappointment.

No, you will not be allowed to take food or drinks into the stadium.
A small amount of baby food is permitted inside if you are attending with a baby, though it is generally not advisable to take babies into the stadium due to the noise that will be created.
